For South Wales businesses

Up to £10,000
toward your new business signage.

Most South Wales councils run shopfront and commercial improvement grant schemes that can cover 70–80% of the cost of new signage and external improvements. We help eligible clients claim them — and we install the signs.

⏵ Council not on this list? Phone us — we cover Powys, Monmouthshire and the rest of Wales too.

Worked example

A Mumbles café needed a new £9,700 illuminated tray sign. Under the Swansea Council Shopfront Improvement Scheme they could potentially receive around £6,800 back (70% of the cost, capped at £10,000). Net cost to the café: ~£2,900.

Actual awards depend on eligibility, application strength and council assessment. We handle the application paperwork at no extra cost.

Common questions

Quick answers about grants.

Do I have to use Glamorgan Signs to apply for the grant?

No. Council grants are independent of any supplier — you can use any qualifying contractor. We help with eligibility checks for free; if you decide to use someone else, that's fine.

How long does the grant application take?

Most South Wales schemes turn around decisions in 4–8 weeks from a complete application. We typically prepare everything within 5 working days from your sign-off.

Do I have to pay first and claim back?

Most schemes work on a reimbursement basis — you pay the supplier, then claim the grant from the council against itemised invoices. We sequence projects so this is as smooth as possible.

What's the catch?

There isn't one really, but the schemes do prioritise applications that show "additionality" — i.e. that the work would not happen without the grant. We help you frame the application accordingly.

My business is in a council not on your list — can I still get a grant?

Some councils run grants intermittently and aren't shown above (Cardiff, Newport, Powys, Pembrokeshire all have schemes that come and go). Tell us where you are and we'll check.

Do you charge for the application help?

No — we don't charge a separate fee for grant applications. We do all of it as part of the overall project, on the basis that if you win the grant, we end up making your sign.

Don't leave money on the table.

Most independent business owners we speak to didn't know these grants existed. Five minutes of your time tells you whether yours could be funded.
